Guys and Dolls is one of the most popular American musicals of all time. Based on the stories of gamblers and showgirls by Damon Runyon and set in the vibrant colours of Broadway, the show is a wonderful comic tale of New York’s low life and the missionaries trying to save their souls.
The plot is simple: boy meets girl; boy makes a bet with another boy that he can take girl on a date. The subplot is simple too: boy has been engaged to girl for fourteen years; girl desperately wants to get married and has been lying to her mother about it. The outcome is predictable: tears, tantrums, love songs, drunken bar fights. And that’s just the girls!
With lively, colourful characters and funny, beautiful songs including the well known Luck Be A Lady, I’ve Never Been In Love Before and Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat, Guys and Dolls is the must see show in town this spring!
