Ken Loach’s political drama ‘Jimmy’s Hall’ centres on Irish communist Jimmy Gralton as he returns to his native land to re-open a dance hall in the 1930s.

The film explores the life and times of Jimmy Gralton, a passionate socialist hell bent on improving the rights of poverty-stricken Irish peasants. In the 1930s, Gralton returns to Ireland from New York and tries to re-open a community hall he had opened in 1921, but he is met with huge resistance from the establishment.
