Bill Murray excels as the world’s most inappropriate childminder in this hilarious and uplifting comedy! St. Vincent de Van Nuys (Bill Murray) is a cantankerous, hard-drinking, misanthropic war veteran. He’s also broke. When he meets his new neighbours, recently divorced Maggie (Melissa McCarthy) and her under-developed 12-year-old son Oliver, Vincent is typically grouchy. But he sees an opportunity to offer his services as an after-school babysitter. What Maggie doesn’t anticipate is that this will entail visits to racetracks and bars. Oliver is also introduced to Eastern European ‘lady of the night’, Daka (Naomi Watts). Naturally, the boy’s schoolteacher, Brother Geraghty (Chris O’Dowd), is concerned. But incorrigible Vincent and impressionable Oliver soon form an unlikely, mutually beneficial bond of friendship. Bill Murray is in his element in this heart-warming comedy from first-time feature director Theodore Melfi. There’s strong support from a heavily-accented Naomi Watts and ‘Bridesmaids’ stars Melissa McCarthy and Chris O’Dowd.

Consumer advice: 12A – contains infrequent strong language, moderate sex and sex references
