Two cultures collide in a delicious, heart-warming foodie drama starring Helen Mirren. The picturesque village of Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val in the south of France is home to one of the country’s most prestigious restaurants. This Michelin starred temple of haute cuisine is overseen by snooty proprietress Madame Mallory (Helen Mirren). But the arrival of the displaced Indian Kadam family shakes things up. Bullish Papa (Om Puri) decides to open an Indian restaurant just across the road, with his culinary genius son Hassan (Manish Dayal) as head chef. Gastronomic war promptly breaks out! But Hassan’s interest in new flavours – not to mention Mme Mallory’s lovely sous chef, Marguerite (Charlotte Le Bon) – leads to an extraordinary blending of cultures. This enchanting drama is adapted from Richard Morais’s bestseller by ‘Chocolat’ director Lasse Hallstrom.
