Russell Crowe is The Water Diviner, a farmer with a talent for finding water in arid landscapes. After Connor and his wife lose their three sons in the Great War, she commits suicide out of grief. Vowing to bring back their bodies, he sets out to find them.
Believed to have been killed in the Battle of Galipoli, Connor simply wants to bring their bodies home for burial. But soon it becomes apparent that they may be alive – and that the Turkish military would prefer them not to be found.

The film is Russell Crowe’s directorial debut.
‘Making his directorial debut, Russell Crowe taps a deep well of symbolism, cultural empathy and good old-fashioned storytelling.’ Megan Lehmann, The Hollywood Reporter.
