An exciting new production of Wagner’s last great masterpiece from the team behind the acclaimed ‘Minotaur’. , Wagner’s final completed opera is a grand and profound meditation on guilt, death and possible redemption. For many years, performances outside the Bayreuth Festival were banned at the composer’s insistence. Stephen Langridge’s new production is designed by Alison Chitty and conducted by Antonio Pappano – the team who brought Birtwistle’s ‘Minotaur’ to the stage so successfully. It also bring together an extraordinary cast of Wagnerian singers. Heldentenor Simon O’Neill, recently acclaimed for his Siegmund, sings Parsifal – the innocent who finds wisdom. Versatile singer-actress Angela Denoke is a fascinating choice for Kundry, who tempts Parsifal. Gerald Finley makes his role debut as the ailing Amfortas, king of the Knights of the Holy Grail. Willard White sings the wicked sorcerer Klingsor, and the magnificent bass Rene Pape is noble knight Gurnemanz.
