Malcolm Stathers is a professional sculptor, local to Haslemere, who specialises in wildlife sculptures – typically African bronzes. He was the sculptor of the bronze bust of Queen Elizabeth I, situated in Haslemere’s Charter Walk, and his talk majors on why Queen Elizabeth I is relevant to Haslemere, why the bust was commissioned, what it is based on, and how a bronze is made. Another of Malcolm’s local commissions was from the National Trust – the topograph of the Devil’s Punchbowl at Hindhead.
