Tuesday 19th May 2:30pm

[box office: 01428 642 161]

A fast moving war requires excellent and secure communications. Enigma was the name of the German coding machine (used in different forms by the army, air force, navy and secret service) that was thought to be unbreakable. This plain-language talk by Cambridge Mathematician Hamish Donaldson explains how the allies cracked the code and the careful and effective use that was made of the resulting decrypts. Hamish is Chairman of Haslemere Festival.
