Petworth House is the only authentic location seen in Mike Leigh’s widely acclaimed film Mr. Turner. This talk expands on the themes of the film, shares some insights into the shooting of the Petworth scenes and explores the painter’s special relationship with the ‘house of art’. Andrew Loukes is Curator of Collections and Exhibitions at Petworth House (National Trust). He was lead curator on the recent Mr. Turner – an exhibition and managed the filming at Petworth, where he has worked for five years. He has written and lectured widely on British art.
