The varied music of the Haslemere Musical Society’s Orchestral Concert starts with the wonderfully expressive overture to Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni which is based on the legend of Don Juan, a fictional libertine and seducer.  Other works in the programme are Elgar’s Serenade for Strings which evokes the bucolic grandeur of the English countryside, Canteloube’s beautiful Songs of the Auvergne for soprano and orchestra, Saint-Saens’ Flute Romance and finally Haydn’s Symphony No 101 popularly known as ‘The Clock’ because of the ticking rhythm throughout the second movement.  James Ross conducts the HMS Symphony Orchestra; Clare Loosley sings the soprano solos and Lucy Hatcher is the flute soloist.

This event is at St Christopher’s Church.
