Captain James Cook was England’s finest explorer, skilled navigator, seaman and hydrographer. Join Paul Covell for his fascinating illustrated talk in period costume of this famous 18th century Yorkshireman, as he re-lives Cook’s three voyages of discovery around the world. Cook claimed Australia for King George III and shaped the future development of that country. During his third voyage he went in search of the North West Passage going from the Pacific to the Atlantic. It proved a fatal voyage and resulted in his death at Kealakekua Bay in Hawaii at the age of 51.
