Tim Winter will talk about how local people were employed working in the large areas of coppice woodland found in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire to produce a wide variety of products including charcoal, bark for tanneries, hurdles, hop poles, besom brooms, walking sticks, barrel hoops and clog soles.
