This talk is at the Haslemere Museum
In early February 1942, Jim Minnis was called up into the Royal Navy. After initial training, he was drafted into Combined Operations and gained extensive experience, as a seaman and then as an officer, in this branch of naval warfare. After a period in the Mediterranean in 1943, he took part, as commanding officer of a tank landing craft, in the D-Day invasion. This talk is a rare opportunity to hear at first-hand about the preparations and the execution of the D-Day landings from one of the men who was actually there.
