Mrs Taylor-Gooby looks behind the well-known facade of women at war created by poster and popular song. Drawing on a range of sources; novels, diaries and reminiscences, Mrs Taylor-Gooby will reflect on experiences which impacted on individuals and the whole of society during the First World War.

Lynne Taylor-Gooby began her teaching career in a girls’ school in Bristol in the early 1970s. She has taught the full range of senior school pupils and adults from 16-60. She joined what was then the Royal Naval School in 1991 and become Principal of the emergent Royal School in 1999. Lynne Taylor-Gooby has lived in Haslemere for 27 years and following her forthcoming retirement will be staying.
