‘Music for a while’. An evening of music making, working together to explore the interpretation of song

A master class is an entertaining and instructive public coaching for the singers who participate. There will be four singing ‘sessions’ and in the limited time available Ann will focus on one or two specific aspects of each performance. As a result the singer will receive valuable information and the audience will see how the singers develop.

Ann Murray, DBE is an Irish mezzo-soprano, who lives in Haslemere. She has sung at all major opera houses and is particularly noted for her lieder recitals and orchestral concerts; particularly music by Mahler, Berlioz, Schubert, Brahms & Britten. In 2002, she was made an Honorary Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her services to music.

Ann will be accompanied this evening by Clive Osgood FRCO. Clive is a local composer and accompanist who studied music at the University of Wales before teacher training in London and an organ scholarship in Salisbury Cathedral. He is currently the Director of Music and Organist at the Parish Church of St. Bartholomew’s in Haslemere and also teaches piano, organ and A-level composition at Reed’s School.

This event is at St Christopher’s Church
