Joy Lisney is twenty years old and balancing her life at Clare College, Cambridge with sustaining a successful international career as a fantastic cellist! She first came to public notice at the age of six, when she was featured on Carlton Television as a possible high achiever for the coming century, an assessment that she has already more than justified.
The past twelve months have seen her London debut at St John`s, Smith Square and two appearances at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, including a premiere of ‘JOY’ (especially written for her by Jan Vriend) and a recital with Dame Emma Kirkby.
James Lisney moves effortlessly from recital and concerto soloist – to piano collaborator and director. His international reputation as an interpreter of Schubert and Beethoven have seen him give cycles of their music in prestigious venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Leipzig Gewandhaus, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and Carnegie Hall in New York. He is known to local audiences for his role as Artistic Director of the Hindhead Recital Series, which has just completed its twenty-fifth season.
