Haslemere Thespians invite you to the weekend from Hell ! Written in 1924 by the 25 year old Noel Coward, “Hay Fever” is a cross between high farce and a comedy of manners (it has been called a “comedy of bad manners), with perhaps a dash of cruelty thrown in. The play is set in an English country house in the 1920s, and deals with the four members of the Bliss family and the games they indulge in when they each invite a guest to spend the weekend. The play is a 20th century classic. A wonderful confection of sparkling dialogue, riotous ensemble scenes and beautifully observed human interaction, it has never been out of the repertoire and continues to delight audiences with its wit and biting satire. “Hay Fever ” is a gift from a master of the theatre. Come and enjoy.
