Haslemere Thespians are delighted to present Nell Gwynn by Jessica Swale, directed by Adrian Stent.
This hilarious, bawdy, but touching comedy set in 1660s London charts the rise of our unlikely heroine from her roots in Coal Yard Alley to her success as Britain’s most celebrated actress, leading to her hard won place in the heart of King Charles II.
The play premiered at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2015 where it received five star reviews. It subsequently transferred to the West End when it won the Olivier award for Best New Comedy.
